2026 WCQ: Finidi demands total commitment from Super Eagles players

Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George has demanded total commitment from his players as they aim to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Finidi,53, was presented to the media by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Monday.

He has signed a year’s contract with an option for an additional year.

The gaffer’s immediate challenge is to ensure the Super Eagles a berth at the 2026 World Cup finals.

The Super Eagles will take on South Africa and Benin in a make or mar qualifiers next month.

The West Africans are winless in Group C after recording draws in their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

“Nigeria comes first, that’s what I expect from every player I invite,” he said at the media briefing.

“You have to play as you play in your clubs and you must have commitment.

“The first targets are to qualify for the World Cup and AFCON and a win over South Africa will set the tone.”
