EPL: He’s been team player – Gilberto Silva hails Arsenal star

Former Arsenal player Gilberto Silva has praised Kai Havertz for his improvement through the course of this current season.

Silva said the 24-year-old has been brilliant for the Gunners, adding that he is a team player.

Arsenal signed Havertz from Premier League rival Chelsea last summer.

The Germany international initially played as a midfielder under manager Mikel Arteta and occasionally played as a centre-forward.

Havertz struggled initially, scoring just one goal and providing one assist in his first 12 Premier League games for Arsenal.

“He is playing a different role from what he normally did in the past, but he’s been brilliant,” Silva said (via The Boot Room).

“When you come from Chelsea to Arsenal, some people believe that it’s not Arsenal’s style. He can’t fit into the team.

“It was a little bit difficult for him at the start and also for Mikel to find his best position. But slowly, with patience and trying, they both have found it. Kai has been a team player, and, despite his early struggles, performed so well.”

Havertz has now scored 11 goals in 23 league matches and provided five assists.
