Niger Police begins investigations into cause of death of two Poly Bida students

The Police in Niger have launched an investigation into the possible cause of death of two students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State whose lifeless bodies were discovered in their lodge at Kobbo area of Bida, Bida local government area of the state on Sunday.

The students were suspected to have died of food poisoning.

Reacting to the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer(PRO) SP Wasiu Abiodun said as soon as the police in Bida got information on the development, the DPO of B Division, Bida, led police operatives to the scene

He disclosed that upon arrival at the lodge, the door to the room was forced open and it was discovered that the bodies were lying dead on the floor in the sitting room.

He explained that the two young deceased persons Oladapo Yusuf Olaitan, 28 years of Osun State and an HND female student Aisha Abubakar 22 years of Lagos Street Minna both of Federal Poly, Bida.

According to him, ” On June 8, 2024, at about 1530 hours information was received that two lifeless bodies of a man and a woman of Federal Poly, Bida, were found dead in their lodge at ‘D’ Aliyu House, Kobbo, Bida”.

Abiodun further revealed that left-over food and some tablets were discovered at the scene and were taken for medical analysis.

He, however, observed that there was no sign of struggle or any mark of violence observed on the bodies of the deceased.

” Their corpses were removed to the FMC Bida for autopsy. The incident is under investigation.” the state Police spokesman added.
