Rivers United will play continental football next season – Nwagua

Rivers United captain Nyima Nwagua remain optimistic of the team’s chances of playing on the continent next season.

The Pride of Rivers played out a goalless draw in their rescheduled game against Kwara United on Thursday.

Rivers United are 11th on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 41 points.

The former NPFL champions still have three outstanding games to be played.

Nyima believed that with the right character the team can achieve the feat.

“In Rivers United, there’s what we call character. We have this belief of always being there!,” he stated after the encounter against Kwara United in Ilorin.

“Though some people tell us it’s not our birthright, but we have this belief that we can always be up there and can always make it to the continent, whichever way it comes.”

Rivers United will face Sunshine Stars in their next game on Sunday.
